JAMES MURPHY Confirms Upcoming SUMMON Collaboration
May 11, 2002Former TESTAMENT/DEATH guitarist James Murphy, who is presently receiving treatment for a brain tumor with which he was diagnosed last August, has confirmed that he will be producing the forthcoming album from Michigan-based black metallers SUMMON, entitled The Blood Runs Black. The recording is tentatively scheduled to take place in June for a late 2002 release through Seattle, Washington's Moribund Records.
"I have spoken on three occasions with [bassist/vocalist] Chas Necromodeus [Schoals] of SUMMON about producing the next SUMMON album," Murphy stated. "If it happens, it will take place at a studio near where I am currently living with my family which is owned by a friend that I have made during my illness, and it will be my very first attempt to work again since nearly two years before my surgery. I hope it will lead to some more work and eventually a full return to form. I'm still not 100% health-wise, but I may never be, and I think it will be very therapeutic for me, as well as fun."
